God’s Eternal Purpose has everything to do with His Ekklesia – by that is meant that the Savior’s death and resurrection not only provides SALVATION for us but results in bringing together His people “scattered abroad” into Unity. Scripture bearing witness to this two-fold purpose of SALVATION and UNITY can be seen in Matthew 16 and in John 11 wherein Jesus tells Peter, after Peter declares Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the Living God – that He would build His Ekklesia based on that revelation of His Person; likewise, in John’s Gospel we see that John takes the High Priest Caiaphas’ statement the “it is expedient for one man to die for the nation” and catapults it into a major prophecy by stating “not for that nation only but to gather together in one all the children of God scattered abroad.”
